Geology is still looked on as predominantly „male“ discipline. But there are many female geological experts, women are involved in paleonthology, mineralogy, petrology, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology and so on. Yet only a few people are aware of this fact. Zdeňka Petáková, the author of the book, decided to approach some of them, for whom geology became a profession as well as a lifelong hobby and mission. The result is mosaic of specific life stories and fates that presents lives of women geologists. It may be of interest not only to women intent on studying geoscience but also to all those who are drawn to and wish to learn more about the colourful, interesting and adventurous life of geolologists!
